Sharing my preferred sopapillas these days! My Homemade Sopapilla Recipe is one particular of our favorite desserts to make as a loved ones. Warm fried dough with melted butter, honey and powdered sugar!


I’ve been hunting forward to sharing my sopapilla recipe for weeks now. Allow me commence by saying I know folks call these all types of distinct names. It type of depends exactly where you grew up! I’ve heard folks contact them scones, fry bread and sopapillas. I am not partial, I’ll phone them something, lol! I bear in mind as a kid having warm sopapillas at a Mexican restaurant we went to and it was my favorite component of the meal!

What Is A Sopapilla?

How To Make Sopapillas

Start by putting warm water, yeast and sugar into your stand mixer. Allow it sit for 5-ten minutes, it’ll commence growing

Whilst you are waiting for your yeast to rise, heat your oil to 350-375 degrees F.

Add your flour and salt to the stand mixer.

Include a number of drizzles of olive oil and let it mix, combine combine.

Eliminate your dough from the bowl and with floured hands, kind into a tiny ball. Please note that you can also use this dough for Pizza Dough. It’s amazing and I use it as properly as my Honey Complete Wheat Pizza Dough typically!

Pinch off tiny pieces of dough and type into about 3 inch rounds.

Meticulously drop every single piece of dough into the sizzling oil.

Let fry until finally golden then flip!

Get rid of from the oil and set onto some parchment paper.

Spread every piece of dough with lots of butter as quickly as it comes out of the oil.
